What do neutrinos do?

They permeate the universe.

They tell us how the Sun shines

They carry away the energy of a dying star

They may even be the reason why our Universe is dominated by matter as opposed to antimatter – the very reason for our existence.

Their numbers are staggering and they are by far the most abundant particles in the whole universe.

They are elusive, carry no charge  and hardly ever interact with matter.

The famous writer John Updike (1939 – 2009) wrote a song about neutrinos called “Cosmic gall”.
