Dead Times
- A function of the veto is to disregard data immediately after a muon event is recorded.
- Hardware limitations prevent data sets that occur close in time to one another from being properly sorted out.
- Both of these are examples of dead times, or periods of time in which taking accurate data is impossible.
- In order to investigate the effects of dead times in the detectors, controlled, simulated events are measured so that proper error compensation can be obtained.
