Oregon
- Petro Diner
- In Phoenix, Oregon, just off exit 24 from I-5. Petro, formerly the
Pear Tree Restaurant, provides truckers and tourists 24-hour food and
entertaining service. Our waitress managed to put bacon on a
vegetarian grilled cheese, knock a water glass on herself (and neglect
to refill it), and switch soups on me without mentioning. However, she
was quick with the coffee refill, and the food hit the spot. The
cobbler was good, adds Cousin Phil, a Phoenix resident. If you carry a
phone, you can plug it in at the table. The menu features tabloid news
items, and offers many all-you-can-eat specials, warning that "this
can only continue with your cooperation: no sharing, and no doggie
bags." Review by Josh Kamensky, with help from Tania K. and Cousins
Phil and Margie.
