Frequently Asked Questions

Who are the Tamales?
Josh Kamensky (shuaksky@minerva.cs.yale.edu) He's doing something vaguely crunchy at Yale after spending two years at Deep Springs doing extremely crunchy coursework. Actually, I think he's studying history or somesuch, and, last I checked, he had hair.
Brent Courtney (bcourtne@ucs.indiana.edu) Brent is actually a music-type as we speak. He's in a 5-year program at Indiana, getting his degree in Clarinet performance and audio recording. His band, FLATTUS, is excellent, and there's a link from Brent's page.
Dave Goldberg (goldberg@astro.princeton.edu) Say, that's me. I'm finishing up here at BU, getting a degree in Astronomy and Physics. Next year, I'm off to do graduate work at Princeton in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Matt Heitz (mheitz@cs.oberlin.edu) has just finished up getting his degree in Computer Science at Oberlin, and is also off to Indiana next year to do graduate work.
The CT's can be found at various points along route 202.

How/where/when did they come from?
Josh's place, after a night groovin' with Lauren Flax.
Suddenly, it all seems so surreal. The ironic thing is that now that about six years have passed, Lauren and I are friends again (after several years of only being vaguely aware of each other's existence). Well, I guess that isn't technically ironic, but after Alanis Morrissette so horrbibly misunderstood what irony is in her song, I don't see that there is any harm in me doing the same.

What is this Place called Yardley?
You don't want to know. Well, some people do, like Susan Joan Moscynski, but I firmly believe that these folks are destined to die in ignorance. The stories are not to be believed. In short, it is a land of dubious sexuality and untold riches.

Where the hell is Jamie?
Case Western Reserve University, or so we've heard, although apparently his family has moved to Florida in recent years. I'm under the impression that he is, or was, a physics major, though I must confess to having extreme doubt.

You make any money doing this?
Ummm... At first, but not a lot. Now we basically spend our time unloading the last few tapes at less than cost, that is to say, free.

Who was almost in the Tamales?
Steve Yenchik and Craig Wiernik, and who's sorry now?
However, Arima Nam (aka Charles Nam's sis, (who is also at Oberlin now) played violin and did backup vocals on one Pestilence
Also, Brian Beeber played drums with us a couple of times. He was a terrific excuse to skip school senior year and go to the Jersey shore.

What's with the Mexican Food fascination?
Well, if you mean the part about the burrito, I should just say that it is perhaps a question better posed to Josh than to myself. I had nothing to do with it. Let me just say that it is probably best to wish Josh a Happy Cinqo de Maio and then beat a hasty retreat

Who's John Luttrell?
Brother, you're asking the wrong man. He was this weird kid who was apparently in one of Heitz's classes (this is High School we're talking about here), and then suddently, just like that, he moved to Chicago. It took us forever and a half to actually get around to recording "He's John Luttrell."

Do you have a video out?
A VIDEO!? Rather. It's the CYANIDE TAMALES movie:

A BAD IDEA GONE WORSE

Rent it, at the Josh, Brent, Heitz or Dave house near you! Actually, I should mention that there is some urgency in this, as the original copy is recorded on Beta, and each of the extant copies is in wretched condition. You see, starting from a low-grad hand video camera, we somehow thought that we could achieve optimum film quality if we transferred the tape some four or five times. Also, the acting, and my skin, for that matter, are not to be believed. However, for some unknown, and undoubtedly perverse reason, Eric Ross Gornstein has watched the movie some half dozen times.

Have you been on the radio
A couple of times on TSR, broadcasting to Trenton State College, and fifty feet beyond! Though to be fair, they didn't seem real keen on the idea of interrupting their sityr music to put the CT's on the air. However, while Elisa listened from the car, Josh and I (Dave) actually performed a live version of stupid girl on the air. Also, Craig played us on the AM station at BU, once.

Any groupies?
Too many to count, but here are some of my favorites:
Jenn Sparrow jsparrow@risd.edu
Danielle Rogal (who's still in the stone ages, email-wise, and who, moreover, has apparently dropped off the face of the earth)
Amy McCaskey mccaskey@trenton.edu
Tania Z. Samantha Kamensky

Oh, one final question! No

Please??
Okay

What are the Names of all of your albums, and what are on them?
I should preface this by saying that I myself only have a copy of the last album, and even that one seems to be on its last legs. I'll check the contents of the other albums at some point.
