Biography

I grew up in a small town in Staten Island NY with three other siblings and a dog and a cat. I enjoyed various activities while growing up, I painted, played guitar, wrote poetry and spent a lot of time reading books of all sorts. I discovered my passion for physics in high school, when I took an elective course in my last year. Since then, I attended Fordham University. I entered as an undeclared major to the Lincoln Center Campus and transferred to the Rose Hill campus for my last three years, which is where all the physics courses were. While in college I discovered a great opportunity with a program called C-STEP, they hired upperclassmen college students or above to teach short classes to select high school students on the weekend. I taught a calculus course to high school seniors from the Bronx. This program showed me how rewarding it is to work with students on a difficult subject. This program also gave me teaching experience which prepared me for teaching courses in graduate school.

I came to Drexel in 2005, completed my masters degree in 2007, and passed my PhD qualifying exams in 2006. I have since then moved my focus from course work and on to research. I spend most of my days teaching and researching. However, I do have interests outside of Drexel, namely I enjoy traveling (filling up my passport is one short term goal), I have joined the Fencing Academy of Philadelphia, and I am happily married and have two cats. I am looking forward to publishing my next paper and traveling to my next country.
