High School Research InternshipsThe Low Temperature Quantum Device Research Group recruits high school interns during the Spring/Summer Quarters to participate in its research mission. All past interns have graduated and are pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) disciplines at prestigious universities. Former Pre-college Interns and current institution:

Partnership with the Society of Physics StudentsAs Faculty Advisor, the PI revived the Drexel SPS Chapter in 2006 and guided SPS to three Marsh White Awards (2007, 2008, 2009) from the American Institute of Physics for physics outreach to Philadelphia high schools and middle schools. The Low Temperature Quantum Device Group supports Drexel SPS by providing training, mentorship and demo equipment. Most group members are members of the SPS and Sigma Pi Sigma Physics Honor Society. The PI's efforts have been featured in The Triangle, Drexel's student paper and The Observer, the SPS National Newsletter. ![]() |
Community Outreach![]() Dr. Ramos is one of 7 Absolute Zero Experts listed in the website for the "Campaign for Absolute Zero and the Conquest of the Cold". Absolute Zero was an NSF-sponsored, two-episode TV special that appeared nationally as part of the award-winning PBS Science Series and focused on the history and impact of the "cold technology" on society. Dr. Ramos also participates in the Drexel Alumni Days entertaining Drexel alumni with the fascinating science and applications of superconductivity and low temperature physics. |
